Orange You Glad…

Hey y’all, and thanks for stopping by today!

I am loving bright pops of color, and as we are coming to the end of Summer (hopefully soon, because Houston, August is the hottest), I’m still going to be throwing in those bright colors. The outfit below is no exception.

An Event to Remember

An Event to Remember

Hi all and happy FriYAY!

I took a break from posting on the blog for the past two weeks and it felt good to not pressure myself to hammer out some content. I spent time with my family, I picked up a good book, and I attended a fabulous event hosted by RewardStyle!

I drove the two hours to Austin, met my mom at the event, and ran in to so many familiar faces! I absolutely loved meeting bloggers that I follow in real life!

It was SO DANG HOT at Mattie’s Austin, and I most certainly didn’t dress for the heat, but the event was absolutely amazing! I loved chatting with the Influencer Support gals from RewardStyle about how to continue to grow my brand.

Off to the Races

Happy Wednesday, y’all!

My friends are I are starting to slide into our thirties and my dear friend, Judith, deserves to jump out of the gate to celebrate her big day. We threw a #derby30 party for her, with fascinators, koozies, and bright pink balloons (because could we really welcome 30 any other way?)! We had brunch at the always fabulous Bloom and Bee in the Post Oak Hotel followed by drinks at Heights Bier Garten and Wicklow Heights!

I ordered a linen off the shoulder number for the day! Keep scrolling for my look and some of our fun photos of the day!

5 things to do to embrace spring

Well, we welcomed the official first day of Spring this week, y’all!

I, for one, have been long anticipating the beautiful Houston Spring weather with lots of off the shoulder tops, crawfish on patios, and sitting by a pool catching some sun.

Spring also welcomes in change; we want new clothes, new skin, a new life.

Here are 5 things you can do to get Spring clean – from clothes to your house to your appearance, we want a fresh start after an icy winter!

1. Clean out that closet – I literally did that on Sunday. I have four bags of stuff for Buffalo Exchange and one bag for Goodwill. The best thing about going through your closet? You find pieces you once loved and you can’t remember why you stopped wearing it. Plus, when you resell your gently loved clothes, you can put that money towards some Spring newness.

2. Change your bedding – I recently made a simple change by switching out my old quilt for a new one last week (similar here). I added some different pillows, and ta-da, a space to rest your head that feels like new! Should I do a new bedding reveal?

3. Tap into some new skincare – Let’s face it, winter does a number to our skin. We’re paler than ever, our skin is dry, our lips chapped. Incorporate some goodness into your skincare routine.

4. Deep clean your place – Household cleaning items are essential this time of year. Although it’s gorgeous outside, you’re also dragging in tons of allergens through your door like pollen. Dust, swiffer those floors, and wash your sheets regularly!

5. Add some fresh blooms to bring some happiness indoors – whether fake or real, add some color to your breakfast table with some flowers. For me, this always puts a smile on my face.

Be Your Own Valentine

Well, y’all, the day has arrived. V day is here.

Now, some people think it’s an overrated holiday forced upon us by big corporations.

However, I think it’s just an extra day out of the year to shower ourselves and the people we care about with some extra love! I am currently single, but that doesn’t stop me from buying into the hype of Valentine’s Day. I sent out my snail mail with vintage-inspired Valentine’s to my nearest and dearest, treated these fingers and toes to a mani/pedi, and bought myself flowers (because according to Henri Matisse, there are always flowers for those who want to see them). Whether you’re celebrating with your SO, getting a group together for a GALentine’s dinner, or hanging by yourself with some Hershey kisses, be good to you and give yourself an extra pat on the back with love today.

Here are 5 things you can do to treat yo’self TODAY:

  1. Take a hot bath – unwind, pour yourself a glass of wine, and take a soak. For some extra relaxation: throw in a floral bath bomb (like the one here).
  2. Take a walk – teach your body that behavior matters: get your blood circulating, put on your headphones, quiet your mind, and jam. Need some new tennies? Check out my new gym shoes here!
  3. Bake your favorite treat – Brownies, cookies, gluten free something? What’s something that you absolutely love to snack on but don’t have often enough? Here’s a recipe for one of my favorite sweet treats – Strawberry Cake!
  4. Send some kindness to someone else – Write 1 positive email, text, or card praising or thanking someone you care about. I love this stationary here!
  5. Buy yourself a happy – sometimes pulling out your wallet can put the biggest smile on your face, am I right? This pretty initial necklace has caught my eye and you can find it here! I also just treated myself to this honey lip scrub ($6) and pink clay mask ($8)!

Cuddly Chenille

IMG_9773

Welcome back to That Blonde Rebel, y’all, and happy Friday! I have minimal plans this weekend and I am PSYCHED about it. This weekend I want to focus on rest, laundry, and finishing the book I’ve been putting off for months. I was in New Orleans last weekend and although it was a blast, I was go-go-go. My batteries need recharging and that’s exactly my goal this weekend. Sleeping in. Putting on a skin mask. Quiet time. How do you recharge?

The Power of Words

Hey y’all! And Happy Friday!

Although I have a fun look to share with y’all today, I also wanted to talk about something important: the power of words.

Has someone ever given you a compliment and instead of just flashing a big smile and saying, “Thanks”, you instead make a self-deprecating comment? WELL, STOP IT.

We live in a society that profits from our self doubt, so liking yourself seems like a rebellious act. It isn’t. You should like yourself. It’s you you go to sleep with every night, and it’s you you wake up with every morning. Sure we all have flaws, and wish we could lose those pesky 10 (okay, 20) pounds, or fix that double chin, or worry that one eye is smaller than the other — these might just be the things I focus on, but you know what’s worse than criticizing your own features? Not also praising the specific characteristics that you make you YOU — like an insane maniacal laugh when something is so funny you can’t breathe, or your good heart of always looking for the best in people, or your collarbone because you can rock an off the shoulder top like no other. Again, that might just be me.

The way you speak to yourself matters. Remember that. Try something new for me: for every negative thought you have about yourself, identify two strengths of who you are, whether they are physical, spiritual, or mental. Celebrate you and get that mean-spirited voice in your head to simmer down.

You have to find that place that brings out the human in you, the soul in you, the love in you.

Be good to you, y’all. Xoxo, Liza
