Sometimes we get down, am I right? Could be a bad day at work, could be a fight with your best friend, could just be waking up on the wrong side of the bed.

Sharing y’all’s tips from Stories a few weeks back for when you’re having a bad day:

  • Make a list of things you did well
  • Do something kind for someone else (acts of service – put kindness out into the universe)
  • Enjoy a glass of wine and get to bed early
  • Treat yourself – from a chocolate shake, to a massage, to a new pair of earrings, treat yourself to something that will put a smile on your face!
  • Call your mom (or best friend) – there’s nobody that knows you better and sometimes just talking out what’s bothering you with someone who has your absolute best interest at heart is calming
  • Get outside and get your blood pumping. Go for a walk, a run, a cycling class. Release those endorphins, girl!
  • Take a hot bath
  • Pray
  • Write a journal entry of all the things you’re grateful for
  • Turn on your favorite song and D-A-N-C-E

I hope this list helps you if you’re feeling down or need a pick-me-up.

Create your own sunshine, friends!

Barefoot Contessa’s Crab Mac n Cheese

Hey friends!

Happy Labor Day! I’ve been at my parents’ house all weekend and on Saturday, we had a delicious dinner of crab legs and steak. We ended up with leftover crab and decided to put it to good use and try out some crab mac and cheese.

I’m putting the recipe below if you want to try it out for yourself!

  • Kosher salt
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1 pound cavatappi or elbow macaroni
  • 1 quart milk
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 12 ounces Gruyere cheese, grated (4 cups)
  • 8 ounces extra-sharp Cheddar, grated (2 cups)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 pounds cooked lobster or crab meat
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh white bread crumbs (5 slices, crusts removed)

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Drizzle oil into a large pot of boiling salted water. Add the pasta and cook according to the directions on the package, 6 to 8 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the milk in a small saucepan, but don’t boil it. In a large pot, melt 6 tablespoons of butter and add the flour. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, stirring with a whisk. Still whisking, add the hot milk and cook for a minute or two more, until thickened and smooth. Off the heat, add the Gruyere, Cheddar, 1 tablespoon salt, the pepper, and nutmeg. Add the cooked macaroni and lobster or crab and stir well. Place the mixture in 6 to 8 individual gratin dishes.
  4. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, combine them with the fresh bread crumbs, and sprinkle on the top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the macaroni is browned on the top.

PSA: Wear What You Want

Happy Monday, friends!

Are we ready for a great week or what? I’ve got some travel this week for work, but have planned out a great week of content!

I wanted to start the week with some body positivity for ya. I can’t tell you how many girls and women have messaged me on Instagram saying, “Oh, I love that, but I could never wear it”

And honestly, why not? What are we so scared of?

We’re living in the dawn of a new age. Curvier gals have more clothing options than ever before and there’s a supportive movement in place. It’s time to let go of the insecurities placed on us by society and festered internally for years making us question our value, our worth. And for what? A couple extra pounds? Shed that self-doubt, that shame. Wear the crop top, let your soul shine, and do whatever you damn well please. For yourself, for your daughters, your sisters, your mothers. Believe in your worth, your value. Your size tag on your clothes, the number on the scale. That doesn’t define you. You know what does? Your kindness, your compassion, your confidence to handle any single thing that presents itself as an obstacle to you.

I wanted to share an outfit oh how I styled this blousy crop top, which is something I typically wouldn’t wear. But I honestly love it, it’s off the shoulder, and flowy. A total winner!
