Single and the City

Hi Friends and happy Friday! Mama, we made it!

For those of you that have been following along for a while, you know I’m as single as can be. My mom says I’m just not good at dating (lol). I’ve made one of my intentions this year to be more open to the possibilities that come my way. Whether these are blog opportunities, dating opportunities, or just life ops, I’m trying to open this little heart of mine.

I was pretty good (and excited) about dusting off the good ole’ bumble app Jan. 1 and give it another go. This has not gained much traction beyond one date. My mom was right! I AM A BAD DATER! What gives? This is honestly an area where I’m just not confident. Also. UGH. This is hard to admit and talk about.

And the thing is, it’s not getting any easier. The older I’m getting, the less likely it is that my friends are also single and want to go whoop it up out on the town (really though, I’m good with a face mask and a bottle of wine on the couch). I think I need to play less of a comparison game and stop worrying about the time ticking away on my clock of expectations. I should be enjoying this time. I only have responsibilities to myself. I can do what I want, when I want it, and answer only to myself. I should be doing more, seeing more, LIVING MORE! If you’re reading this and you’re also single, let go of the wanting a partner to start living your life. LIVE YOUR LIFE and that partner will fit into it. Let go of the should have been, could have been, would have been. I am SO GUILY of this.

So here’s the thing this Valentine’s month. Do you. For you. Give yourself a break and remind yourself of all the badass stuff you’ve accomplished. If/when my Instagram husband shows up, I know he’ll be getting the best of me. Because I’m going to start being better to me.

Whether or not you’ve got a ring on your finger, a sushi date planned with your gals, or you’re going to be watching Bridget Jones’ Diary by yourself with a bottle of wine, enjoy this time of your life. We never know how quickly things change.

Regardless of how you’re celebrating, here’s a V-day look that’s sure to make you feel like a million bucks (without breaking the bank)!
